Estimou-se um modelo logit para estudar o uso da Internet nas atividades rurais do Estado de São Paulo. Em 2003, mostra-se que 10,2% dos produtores costumavam acessar a Internet para cuidar de seus negócios e 17,0% pretendiam fazê-lo no futuro. A probabilidade de adotar essa tecnologia é maior: nas unidades de caráter empresarial que nas familiares; em unidades com maior nível tecnológico tanto na produção quanto na administração; por produtores mais jovens, com nível educacional mais alto; por produtores absenteístas, principalmente aqueles que exercem outra atividade econômica fora da unidade de produção agropecuária; por membros de cooperativas; por aqueles que pretendem aumentar suas atividades nos próximos
cinco anos. Certamente, tais produtores estarão mais bem preparados para atuar numa economia globalizada num futuro próximo.

A logit model is estimated to study the use of Internet in the rural activities of the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is shown that, in 2003, 10,2% of the farmers used to access the World Wide Web to manage their business and that 17,0% intended to use it in the future. This technology is more likely to be adopted: a) in enterprise farms than in family ones; b)on farms with higher technological level, both in production and administration; c) by younger
farmers than by older ones; d) by farmers with higher educational levels; e) by absentee farmers, mainly by those with other economic activities outside the farm; f) by members of producers cooperatives, and g) by those who intend to increase their activities in the next five years. Certainly, these farms will be better adjusted to act in a globalized economy in the near future.
